GILBERT PARKER retired in December 2000 after 21 years at the William Morris Agency where he was Senior Vice President, and 50 years in the business. Parker began his career as assistant to Audrey Wood, the legendary tenpercenter who repped William Inge, Truman Capote and Tennessee Williams, among others. At MCA and later ICM, he handled foreign, stock and amateur rights for her clients, as well as other agents' scribes, including Lillian Hellman and Paddy Chayefsky. As an agent, Parker struck out on his own in the late 1950s by looking beyond Broadway. Parker has represented A.R. Gurney, Terrence McNally and Beth Henley.
